Tips to avoid depression

When I was a student, I have seen more than my fair share of students becoming depressed over a period of time. It gradually started when they became more and more concerned with their results and started shutting themselves out from all public contact. Slowly, but surely, most of them end up in a very bad state of mental depression despite the best efforts from their friends. So I started wondering about the possible steps that can be taken on a personal level to avoid depression. I came across the following tips and thought I should share with all of you. First and foremost, spread happiness to all around you. This creates a positive energy around you. Next, try to avoid negative thoughts as much as possible. As soon as we realise  that we are having negative thoughts, we should try to think about something positive immediately.We can also avoid negative thoughts by keeping ourselves busy. We forget our worries when we involve ourselves in our favorite activites. We should try to do something constructive.Finally, even if we have made a mistake, we should try to avoid feeling guilty for too long. In particular, we should try to dwell on the lessons learnt rather than the mistakes itself.In doing this, we are concentrating on doing the right thing.
