Quantity of food is important

In order to understand the causes of weight gain, it is important to understand the concept of portion sizes. Research shows that portion sizes of foods in restaurants have increased by three hundred per cent in the United States of America in the last thirty years. Many people today do not even realize that the amount of food that they eat in one sitting was actually meant to serve two or even three people. A big reason for this is the new idea of ‘super—sizing’ that fast food restaurants seem to have adopted in a big way. People eat super sized meals at restaurants and then carry the concept home, where they prepare and eat bigger and bigger portions of food. One way of eating correct portion is to invest in dinner plates with a smaller diameter. Using smaller spoons and thinner, taller glasses are other methods of tricking your mind into believing that you are actually consuming more than you actually are.
